Singer Le Mans will be gathering at Le Mans in July for the Le Mans
Classic, 24 hours of racing for cars that either took part in the

those that took part. The Singers are mainly from the UK but will
be joined by others from Holland and France. The Le Mans Classic

NEC
Classic Car Show 2007
The
Singer Owners' Club has had a stand at the NEC Classic Car show
for a number of years and this year showed eight cars from the 1930's
together with a partly restored chassis. Some of the best club cars
available were on display and from the moment the show opened until
it closed at the end of the three days the stand was exceedingly
busy with many visitors being genuinely suprised at the variety
and quality of the cars on show.
To illustrate the 9hp range were a 1933 Sports Nine (Michael Gardner),
a 1933 Sports Nine Coupe (John Blason), a 1934 IFS Nine Saloon (Mike
Lyne), a 1935 1½ Litre Le Mans (Martyn Wray), a 1935 Nine
Le Mans Four Seater (Tony Sutton), a 1935 Nine Le Mans (David Allen),
a 1936 Nine Le Mans (Tony Perkins) and a 1937 Sports Nine (George
Turner) with Arthur Michell's partly restored 1936 Nine Le Mans
chassis completing the line up.

SINGERS
ON THE BROADS
15th
June to 17th June 2007
The 2007 event was based at the Holiday Inn near Norwich airport
and despite appalling weather many members arrived on Thursday evening
ready for an early start on the Friday. Luckily the weather improved
and there was no need for hoods to be erected. A short scenic drive
took members to the Museum of the Broads at Stalham where there
was plenty to see but unfortunately the little steam boat was out
of action.

Lunch was at the New Inn at Horning where all the Singers were neatly
packed into the car park out of range of the Parking Warden! The
afternoon route returned to the hotel by way of the Wroxham Barns.
In the evening 100 members swapped their Singers for two coaches
for transport back to Horning for a 3 hour cruise and buffet on
the Broads, a very enjoyable evening.
On
Saturday morning 40 Singers found their way to St Helens Church
at Ranworth and many members took the 89 steps to the top of the
tower and then explored The Broadlands Conservation Centre. Some
members used the small electric boat to take them to lunch at The
Malsters before returning to the hotel via the Fairhaven Trust.
120
members and friends sat down for dinner alongside a Commodore boat,
a Roadster and a Bantam with a Porlock and Gazelle neatly parked
in the entrance.

A
25 mile drive on Sunday morning took everyone to the Waveney River
Centre where over 70 cars and bicycles were displayed overlooking
the small marina. The Commodore was launched and showed that even
at 70 years of age this superb looking craft still has an excellent
turn of speed even if it does have a tendency to leak!
A
full report was in the July/August edition of the "Singer Owner"
